Hey all. Hope you are all doing great. It has been a while since the last update.
Last status update Hive mind
The ants are now able to find their way to various locations using a grid from the grid manager and A-star pathfinding. Sebastian Lague has a great video on youtube explaining it how it works. In fact if you like this project i can highly recommend Sebastians youtube channel. He has a lot of great content similar to the hive mind project! In below screenshot you can find the pathfinding visualised. Note the lights are on here to make it more visible while debugging. This will be darkened when in-game of course.

What is next
If you have ever played games like Star craft 2 you know that these units are able to find their way very fast and smooth. It feels so good and natural that i want to replicate it in our ant world. For that we will add for group path-finding flow fields, change it to A star hierarchical and use local obstacle avoidance. All very exciting features to work on. When we have this in place and the ants know how to move and find their way to it, we can start working on the other simulation mechanics.
Continuation Hive mind project
I will postpone this project for now, but i will definitely pick it up again to finish this exciting project. There is another project that i have been working on which, once in place and working, will free me up again to work fully dedicated on this project.
